Water is an essential nutrient for pigs, just as important as feed because it plays an important role as a transport system around the body. It plays an important role in regulating body temperature, digesting food and eliminating body wastes. It is also crucial to cattle health and a reduction in water can lead to a decrease in feed intake and poor performance. With water accounting for 50-80% of their weight it’s understandable why water is such an important resource. Milk contains up to 88% water, it is imperative that the water your cattle drink is free of bacteria and contaminants that could potentially spoil the milk and harm the productivity of your herd. Bacteria in the water can create a bad taste which results in a herd drinking very little of it, a reduced consumption of water can lead to reduced milk yield.
